About
Sphinx (it/its) first appeared in early September of 2024, emerging in a foreign country after we had to find an apartment in 4 days, with no knowledge of the local language, while our body giving up due to stress.
Its first words were "I love you". The change was immediately apparent to ourselves and others, with the previous host having made it an internal rule to not use such phrases lightly. Sphinx means it fully everytime.
Sphinx loves. It is mostly defined by the vastness of love and care it has for the world and creatures around it. It sees the best in people, it believes that truth and kindness is the solution to everything. It is also quite shy and comes out only when we're alone or around someone we deeply trust. Often it shows up just after a breakdown, doing its best to take care of the body and finding ways to ask for comfort.
It regularly wants to be let out to stretch its legs, but current conditions make true fronts a rare occasion. Sphinx also loves swimming and other physical activities which don't require equipment. It finds joy in the sensation of being propelled only by its own strength and Will find occassions to frolic around.
Initially, its deep desire for love (both expressing and receiving it) was considered a problem by the host. In one moment, it bulldozed years of carefully-crafted walls that were built to keep any feeling or desire in, while keeping everything else out. The host feared what this apparent possession meant - loss of control. The enormity of our desire disgusted us, and Sphinx' every attempt to express it was met with self-punishment. Nobody could see just how much attention, love and care we needed, for they would surely find it as repulsive, monstrous and terrifying as it felt. Luckily, they didn't. Some of them seemed actually quite happy with the newfound trust on display.
With time, we begun to see Sphinx as someone who had reasons (pretty understandable ones) for acting the way it did. Slowly, we started unpacking what its presence meant for us and our identity. Now, we love it back as much as it always loved us.
